MEET William

The son of a contract manager and a pediatrician, William (or Will Jay as he is known to his friends), is a native Arizonan, growing up in Phoenix.  Throughout his young life, he learned how to value hard work, champion financial responsibility, and believe in individual liberty.  He attended Arcadia High School, followed by the University of Arizona, where he received a bachelor’s degree in accounting.

After college, Will Jay was commissioned as a Naval Officer, serving Pacific and Middle East deployments aboard USS Boxer (LHD-4), as well as being the Auxiliaries Officer and Interim Chief Engineer aboard USS Somerset (LPD-25), one of the three ships named in honor of the victims of the September 11 Attacks.

Following his military service, Will Jay commenced his career as an accountant, advancing his way through a variety of corporate finance roles.  During the course of his career, he has gained a thorough knowledge of budgetary management and financial best practices.  Most recently he has been actively consulting with companies in a Controller / VP of Finance capacity. He is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in the State of Arizona.

Outside of professional activities, Will Jay is an active member of Executive Council 70, has served on the Board of Governors for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Scottsdale, the Neighborhood Advisory Commission for the City of Scottsdale, and as a Swim Coach for the Young Athletes Special Olympics.

Will Jay is married to his wonderful wife, Katie (nee Rosenzweig), a fourth-generation Arizonan, and together they have one son, William III.

“MaricOPA COUNTY NEEDS LEADERSHIP NOW MORE THAN EVER. AS A CPA, I KNOW WHAT IT TAKES TO BALANCE OUR BUDGET AND ENSURE A STABLE FINANCIAL FOUNDATION FOR THE FUTURE OF OUR COUNTY. THAT’S WHY I’M RUNNING FOR MARICOPA COUNTY TREASURER”

WILLIAM LICHTSINN, CPA

Why I’m RUNNING

I want my son to grow up in the same amazing community I did. We all need to do our part to ensure the next generation has more opportunity, and that starts with financial investing and creating an economy in Maricopa County that serves its residents.

  • Financial Expertise: I have a strong background in finance, accounting, and economics. My experience in managing budgets, overseeing investments, and financial planning is essential for the responsible management of county funds.

  • Transparency and Accountability: I am committed to transparency in financial operations. I will advocate for open communication and accountability in handling public funds. It is crucial for me to maintain the trust of the community.

  • Efficient Resource Management: A treasurer responsible for managing public funds must prioritize efficiency and effectiveness in financial operations. I know how to optimize resources to benefit the county and its residents.

  • Fiscal Responsibility: I will implement responsible spending and saving practices. I understand the importance of balancing budgets, minimizing waste, and implementing cost-effective measures and I will get it done for the taxpayers of Maricopa County.

  • Innovation and Modernization: In an increasingly digital world, we must advocate for the modernization of financial systems and embrace new technology for more efficient financial management. We are currently falling behind and I will attack this issue head on.

  • Community Involvement: I am actively engaged in the community with my current volunteerism, and I look to expand this as Treasurer by listening to the concerns and needs of residents. I know that by listening and being available to you, I can better represent your interests and ensure financial decisions align with the community's priorities.
